LUME was founded in the Netherlands out of a growing concern: the safety of women.

We kept seeing stories, incidents, and statistics showing how often women feel unsafe, walking home at night, travelling alone, or simply moving through daily life. We realized something needed to change.

Most safety devices were bulky, obvious, or inconvenient. They might offer protection, but they often took away something just as important: confidence. We believed that safety should never compromise style.

So we created LUME, inspired by the word lumen, meaning light.
